Civil War reenactment coming to Bartlett for Heritage Days
The 1st Brigade was the first brigade formed by the people of Illinois under an order by Governor Yates in April of 1861. It was comprised of Infantry, cavalry and artillery troops. Today the 1st Brigade, Illinois Volunteers represents Civil War Reenacting Units in upper and central Illinois. It will bring an exciting reenactment to Bartlett Heritage Days, staging an encampment in Bartlett Park Saturday, Sept 12 from 10 am to 3 p.m.
Elements of the 1st Brigade will march in the kickoff parade at 10 a.m. from Bartlett Avenue to and around Bartlett Park. Drills and commentary to the public begins after the parade and at 11:00 am. spectators who volunteer to "enlist" and be inducted in the Union Army will undergo a medical inspection. A skirmish takes place at 1 p.m., with the wounded tended in the field by medics at 1:30.
Don't miss this opportunity to step back in time and see this authentic reenactment of a Civil War encampment and battle.
